The sigma man may not yell, but he is unmistakably the one who takes a position. You may believe they are passive, yet this is the worst error you can make. Underestimating a sigma is a significant error you’ll come to regret. These people go at their own pace and will not bend for anybody. While the public labels them as loners, there’s a lot more to the tale.
There are some things that Sigma men would not accept, and here are ten of them.
Being taken advantage of.
Sigma men do not offer their trust lightly, therefore acquiring it is an accomplishment in and of itself. When that trust is lost, they will severe all connections and never look back. They follow the motto “fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me.” They recognize the cost of treachery and will not lay out the red carpet for someone who has shown their true colors by stabbing them in the back. Consider an experienced soldier on the battlefield; he’s seen it all, seen the worst, and the last thing he’ll accept is a buddy betraying him.
It’s not about carrying grudges; it’s about respecting oneself and maintaining a close and dependable group. According to the wise Benjamin Franklin, “three can keep a secret if two of them are dead.” Trust is something Sigma earns and does not give easily. They’re not going to repeat the same error.
Play with them.
Whether it’s guilt, flattery, or any other approach, Sigma men have an armory that includes a B.S. detector second to none. They can detect manipulation a mile away and have zero tolerance for it. Above all, these guys appreciate sincerity and honesty. They’re like seasoned fisherman who have seen every trick the water can pull. They can tell when the tide is shifting; they can sense when something is awry, and they won’t bite. If anything smells fishy, try pulling a quick one on them, and you’ll be out in the cold faster than you can blink.
They value honesty, even if it is bitter, but manipulation is a game they will not play. They are not readily influenced by flattery or trickery, and any effort to dominate or fool them will be seen straight through. While some may be taken in by the charm, Sigma men will not be. If someone attempts to influence them in any way, that person is like a red sign to a bull.
Accepting falsehoods and justifications.
These individuals have a strong intolerance to dishonesty and making excuses. They’re like the unshakable lighthouse, its lights cutting through the murky fog of falsehood with unyielding determination. They understand that rhetoric is cheap and that action speaks louder than words, thus they value honesty, openness, and personal accountability. When someone attempts to mislead them or hide behind a shroud of excuses, it’s like attempting to sell a vehicle with a defective engine to a seasoned technician.
They’ll be able to see straight through the smoke and mirrors. “If you tell the truth,” Mark Twain reportedly quipped, “you don’t have to remember anything.” Sigma guys like individuals who accept responsibility for their acts and despise those who continually spin webs of excuses and falsehoods. They believe in the power of truth and the fortitude to confront one’s flaws. After all, it’s much preferable to confront an unpleasant reality than to live happily in deception.
They are constantly being demolished.
Sigma guys aren’t afraid of criticism or failures, but they can’t handle the relentless effort to bring them down. These folks, like a fortified fortress that remains fast despite the constant onslaught of a besieging army, refuse to succumb to hardship. They resemble the mighty oak tree, which remains tall and sturdy through storm after storm. Sure, its branches shake in heavy winds, yet it refuses to break. Elon Musk, a prime example of a sigma, was continually questioned, challenged, and dismissed. Many thought his lofty ideas for SpaceX and Tesla were doomed to fail, but he refused to be defeated by these doubters.
As a result, he utilized their doubt as motivation to work harder and prove them wrong. Tesla is already a major participant in the electric vehicle business, while SpaceX has accomplished feats previously believed inconceivable. Life is a battleground, and sigma men are the soldiers that stand erect in the middle of it all. They don’t let the arrows of criticism or the swords of failure pierce their armor; instead, they exploit these obstacles to become stronger and more robust. A calm water does not make a skillful sailor. No matter how many times they are pushed down, Sigma men refuse to be brought down because their path is about ascending. They’re not just surviving the storm; they’re also learning to dance in it.
Being lethargic and whining.
It’s no wonder that we’ve reached this point as a species. Despite having all of the tools and technology available to us, there are still those who moan about everything without making any attempt to improve it. Laziness and a bad attitude are not tolerated by Sigma guys. They live by the motto “no pain, no gain” and consider any sort of sloth to be a blatant breach of this holy concept. A piece of raw iron gets fashioned into a fearsome sword by the heat of the fire and the might of the hammer, just like the modest blacksmith does. Laziness is like rust on the sword, eroding its sharpness and brilliance and turning it dull and worthless. Complaining irritates them just as much. Sigma men believe in putting their efforts into discovering answers rather than whining about them.
This is not to argue that these guys are immune to life’s challenges and difficulties. They, too, encounter hardships and experience tiredness. Instead of whining or succumbing to sloth, they opt to channel their emotions into useful activity. They are certain that life is what you make of it. You will enjoy the benefits of your efforts if you choose to be proactive and industrious. However, if you choose to be lazy and spend your time moaning, you will reap the bitter fruit of mediocrity and unhappiness.
They are overstepping their bounds.
Many people regard limits as a sign of constraint or confinement, while Sigma men consider them as a symbol of respect and self-preservation. They’re like the great oak tree, appearing quiet and stoic, yet firmly anchored in their surroundings. You’ll feel the sting of opposition if you enter their land without their permission. Their borders are sacrosanct and should not be breached. They may not express their displeasure openly, but their actions will say volumes. According to the great philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche, “he who cannot obey himself will be commanded.”
This is particularly true for sigmas, who value autonomy above all else and will not accept any type of interference or control. Just as a dog aggressively defends its territory, Sigma men will fiercely defend their borders. Anyone who attempts to cross them without permission is like declaring war, and these guys are always ready to protect their turf. Sun Tzu said, “Invincibility lies in defense; the possibility of victory in attack.”
Detecting a whiff of unfairness.
Many individuals just turn a blind eye to injustice, dismissing or denying its existence. While not all sigmas are social justice warriors, they do have a strong sense of justice and value fairness in all circumstances. It’s similar to being an experienced referee in a football game; you can notice a foul even if it’s slight. They will not hesitate to blow the whistle if they witness someone breaching the rules or attempting to get an unfair advantage. According to Martin Luther King, “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” Turning a blind eye to injustice simply serves to perpetuate it, and standing by while someone is harmed is just as awful as doing the injustice. Sigma men are committed to make things fair, whether it’s standing up to a bully at school or speaking up against unjust treatment at work. They will not accept unfairness, no matter how large or minor the problem seems to be.
Individuals who just take.
Nothing drains a soul more than continuously being around individuals who just take. These people are like black holes, sucking up resources without ever returning anything, whether it’s time, money, or emotional support. They seem to be in dire need of more, and although sigma men are naturally giving, there is a limit to how much they can offer without receiving anything in return.
While those who simply take may not perceive anything wrong with their actions, sigma guys are rapidly tired and fatigued from being exploited. It’s similar to being on a team when one individual expects to get all of the advantages while performing none of the work. This is unacceptable to Sigmas, who believe in the idea of give and take. “We make a living by what we get,” Winston Churchill famously said, “but we make a life by what we give.” The ultimate value of life is defined not by what we get, but by what we give. People who merely take without giving back are thus incompatible with the sigma’s viewpoint.
Taking care of little things.
Sigma guys like to concentrate on the larger picture rather than micromanaging and stressing over little issues. They see life as a beautiful tapestry filled with huge ideas and thrilling possibilities. Getting caught up in the details is like to attempting to appreciate a great picture by concentrating on a single brushstroke. It’s like if a world-class chef had to peel potatoes every day when his true ability and passion are in creating culinary wonders. Sigma males are unable of doing so.
They prefer to concentrate on the big picture by becoming embroiled in jobs that lack vision, creativity, and passion, leaving the smaller day-to-day duties to people who receive enjoyment from them. “I don’t think of work as work and play as play,” Richard Branson famously stated. It’s all alive.”
Living paycheck to paycheck.
Consider your daily routine. You get up, go to work, and go about your business. This is a common day for many people, and it serves the function of earning a livelihood. However, such a method is insufficient for Sigma. He is looking for more than simply financial survival. Take, for example, Steve Jobs. He didn’t establish Apple to get wealthy, but because he had a firm confidence in his revolutionary ideas and a passionate desire to make a difference. “I was worth over $1 million when I was 23, over $10 million when I was 24, and over $100 million when I was 25,” he once remarked.
And it didn’t matter since I never did it for money.” For sigmas, life is about pursuing their passions, discovering their mission, and making a difference. “The two most important days in your life,” as Mark Twain aptly put it, “are the day you are born and the day you find out why.” Sigma guys prefer to march to the beat of their own drum rather than dance to the beat of someone else’s salary.
